Hemorrhoid inflammation can cause pain when passing stool. Thus pain medication, whether applied directly to the hemorrhoid area or taken orally can provide immediate relief. However, these methods do not affect the general cause of the pain and thus are temporary solutions. A medical procedure is a better treatment for hemorrhoids as well as increased intake of dietary fiber, through intake of vegetables or even through fiber based dietary supplements.
